Inpatient rehabilitation is offered to people with addictions. Inpatient rehabilitation includes living within a rehabilitation center during treatment. This is done with the addict’s permission and that of the family members and close friends who are significant in their lives. The period of stay ranges from a short seven days up to one year. The key is not to rush the patient but to monitor and move in accordance with the patient’s pace of recovery.

The main reason why patients struggling with alcohol abuse prefer to move into an inpatient center is that they often require extensive physiological and emotional support which cannot be adequately offered or received elsewhere. These inpatient facilities may either exist side-by-side with other hospitals or on their own in remote places far away from usual daily distractions.

Inpatient Alcohol Rehabilitation

The location of the inpatient rehab center the addict or his or her family chooses depends on whether they feel a need for the addict to be close to a hospital so that they can be easily transferred to the medical facility if complications arise. However, choosing to be in remote locations has the purpose of creating a serene atmosphere that is radically different from where the patient has come from.

Inpatient alcohol abuse programs are geared towards providing the patient with the right tools to make a complete break from his past while helping him or her start making better choices. They try to disconnect the patient from the reasons that led him or her to his or her addiction as much as possible. The success rate of inpatient programs is higher than outpatient programs.

Inpatient rehab programs and centers are available in every state throughout the U.S. There are many rehab centers with branches all over the country that are trying to replicate the level of their success. These centers have proved helpful in reducing the high level of alcohol addiction which has been previously reported. There is now a reported decline in alcohol addiction in most states.

Inpatient facilities also offer patients the crucial support they need successfully kick their habit. This support comes from counselors, physicians, and support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous. The support addicts receive helps them realize that they are not alone in their journey to freedom.

Some of the programs availed in the course of one’s treatment include being taken through the 12-step program, going through counseling and therapy, and successfully undergoing detox. There are several newer programs, including holistic therapy, meditation, and the use of medication and massage. The application of these programs on a patient depends on the advice of the physicians treating him or her.
